Subject: linux-next: Tree for Mar 28

Hi all,

The next linux-next release will be on Tuesday April 2.

Changes since 20130327:

The vl4-dvb tree still had its build failure for which I disabled a
staging driver.

The hid tree gained a conflict against Linus' tree.

The net-next tree gained a build failure for which I reverted a commit.

The block tree still had its build failure for which I applied a patch.

The usb tree gained a build failure for which I reverted a commit.

The signal tree gained a conflict against Linus' tree.

The akpm tree lost a patch that turned up elsewhere.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have created today's linux-next tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git
(patches at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/next/ ). If you
are tracking the linux-next tree using git, you should not use "git pull"
to do so as that will try to merge the new linux-next release with the
old one. You should use "git fetch" as mentioned in the FAQ on the wiki
(see below).

You can see which trees have been included by looking in the Next/Trees
file in the source. There are also quilt-import.log and merge.log files
in the Next directory. Between each merge, the tree was built with
a ppc64_defconfig for powerpc and an allmodconfig for x86_64. After the
final fixups (if any), it is also built with powerpc allnoconfig (32 and
64 bit), ppc44x_defconfig and allyesconfig (minus
CONFIG_PROFILE_ALL_BRANCHES - this fails its final link) and i386, sparc,
sparc64 and arm defconfig. These builds also have
CONFIG_ENABLE_WARN_DEPRECATED, CONFIG_ENABLE_MUST_CHECK and
CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO disabled when necessary.

Below is a summary of the state of the merge.

We are up to 222 trees (counting Linus' and 31 trees of patches pending
for Linus' tree), more are welcome (even if they are currently empty).
Thanks to those who have contributed, and to those who haven't, please do.

Status of my local build tests will be at
http://kisskb.ellerman.id.au/linux-next . If maintainers want to give
advice about cross compilers/configs that work, we are always open to add
more builds.

Thanks to Randy Dunlap for doing many randconfig builds. And to Paul
Gortmaker for triage and bug fixes.

There is a wiki covering stuff to do with linux-next at
http://linux.f-seidel.de/linux-next/pmwiki/ . Thanks to Frank Seidel.

This should be fixed in net-next by:

commit 8b49a4c75965ed157e21450d23dcadd6b27c1aa3
Author: Dmitry Kravkov <[email protected]>
Date: Wed Mar 27 08:56:10 2013 +0000

bnx2x: fix compilation without CONFIG_BNX2X_SRIOV

Move mutex initialization by allocation of the mailbox it protects.

introduced in commit 1d6f3cd89 'bnx2x: Prevent VF race'

Sorry for a late fix. Hans was/is on vacations, and didn't noticed about
that breakage, as he was/is without access to his email at work. A proper
fix for it were added on my tree:

commit 9e7664e0827528701074875eef872f2be1dfaab8
Author: Hans Verkuil <[email protected]>
Date: Fri Mar 29 07:20:36 2013 -0300

[media] solo6x10: The size of the thresholds ioctls was too large

On powerpc the maximum size for the ioctl argument is 8191, and it was
8192. However, the 64x64 array of threshold values is more than is actually
needed in practice for PAL and NTSC formats. A 45x45 array will do just fine.
So change the size accordingly to fix this problem.

So, you should be able to drop the patch that disables solo6x10 compilation
on the next linux-next.

Regards,
Mauro
