Subject: "No IRQ known for interrupt pin A..." error message

During boot, I get the message:

PCI: No IRQ known for interrupt pin A of device 00:00.1. Please try
using pci=biosirq.

If I boot with pci=biosirq, as the error message suggests, I get the
same error, save the part about trying with pci=biosirq. This is with
version 2.4.0-test11-pre7 and as far back at least as test10-final. I
don't remember seeing this error on earlier versions, though I may have
glossed over it. Another possibly relevant part of the boot messages
is:

PCI: PCI BIOS revision 2.10 entry at 0xfdb81, last bus=1
PCI: Using configuration type 1
PCI: Probing PCI hardware
PCI: Using IRQ router default [1039/0008] at 00:01.0
PCI: Cannot allocate resource region 9 of bridge 00:02.0

My motherboard uses the SiS530 chipset, and the bridge at 00:02.0 is the
AGP bridge. If anyone's interested, I have the entire boot log.

Can you send me 'lspci -vvx' output, please?

i am not the original poster, but i get the same message (save for the
device number), i.e. "PCI: No IRQ known for interrupt pin A of device
05:00.0. Please try using pci=biosirq". this is on a dell latitude
running 2.4.0-test11-pre7. the output from 'lspci -vvx' follows:

It is related to VGA card (at least on my system).
Enabling 'Assign IRQ for VGA' in BIOS causes the message to disapear.

That looks exactly like the message I get if I tell the bios not to assign
an interrupt to my video card.

unfortunately, i don't get such a choice. and if what you say is true,
isn't the message ("No IRQ known for interrupt pin A of device
05:00.0. Please try using pci=biosirq") misleading? to me this means
the kernel couldn't find the irq by itself, so it will ask the bios.
but if the irq is not assigned in the bios, how can kernel find it
then? maybe i should look at the code itself to try to understand what
is going on here (chances are i won't understand the code anyway, so
that's why i'm asking).

I'm getting the same message with 2.4.0-test10 on a sis chipset. There
doesn't seam to be any other problems, and ide0 appears in
/proc/interrupts.
