If I don't touch the tape device, the machine will stay up without a problem. This has happened at least since 2.4.19 - I've never been able to get it to work. The problem occurs with both the aic7xxx and aic7xxx_old drivers. Of course I'm getting the same spurious 8259A interrupts as everyone else using this chipset, and I've tried using kernels with the Local APIC support both enabled and disabled. I've also tried increasing the PCI Latency in BIOS to 64 (from the default of 32), and I've shifted the SCSI controller around to different PCI slots. If I run a "watch -n 1 cat /proc/interrupts" while the above dd is running, the ERR: field climbs at an average rate of about 1.5 counts per second until the lock-up. So... does anyone have any ideas how I should start trying to track this down? Boot time messages, output of lspci -vvv and .config are attached (it's running 2.4.20-ac1 right now) - if any more information is needed, just let me know... - Kevin.
