I don't know where you come up with this but the code you're removing was added in 2013: e666dfa273db ("x86/microcode_intel_lib.c: Early update ucode on Intel's CPU") and I'd strongly assume it was tested at the time. Now, the text in the SDM is confusing, as most of the time is so I would think the code is doing the right thing even if the text doesn't really say that clearly. Fenghua, care to comment please?
