Here's the skinny on an oops I see when trying to load the cs4236 ALSA module. My computer has a Turtle Beach Malibu sound card in it, and I got it installed just before the PNP subsystem was rewritten in 2.5, so I haven't had the card work yet. Getting it running has been on the back-burner for a while. With the latest patches in from Al Viro I thought I'd give it a shot and see if the kernel can load this module up, but it can't. Here's the dmesg output from my reboot into the 2.5.70-bk kernel pulled from May 29. Just after bootin up I tried 'modprobe snd-card-0' and got the oops. The dmesg output does show that the card has some PNP conflicts detected during the boot up. I have no idea how to fix this, and would welcome some suggestions from some hardware-savvy people about how to resolve these conflicts. Onward to the dmesg output and ksymoops readout ... $ dmesg Linux version 2.5.70-ajh2 (arth@pcdebian) (gcc version 3.3) #1 Thu May 29 13:36:09 CDT 2003 Video mode to be used for restore is f00 BIOS-provided physical RAM map: BIOS-e820: 0000000000000000 - 000000000009fc00 (usable) BIOS-e820: 000000000009fc00 - 00000000000a0000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000000e0000 - 0000000000100000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 0000000000100000 - 0000000008000000 (usable) BIOS-e820: 00000000fec00000 - 00000000fec01000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000fee00000 - 00000000fee01000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000fffe0000 - 0000000100000000 (reserved) 128MB LOWMEM available.
