I do not know whether the hardware is flawed or there is really a bug in the kernel. My other drives do not produce this error. The writer is with used with the ide-scsi module. When I traced this oops with another computer via serial console the kernel was not tainted (it is now due to the softmodem driver). The ruby-patch cannot be cause of the problem, the crashes happened before, too. Please cc me on any discussion because I'm not subscribed to the list. Any help would be appreciated.
