I've tried today to enable the PPP Synchronous mode for my PPPoE connection , and ifconfig reports a very strange thing: melchior:/home/melchior# ifconfig eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:40:F4:55:A1:40 inet addr:192.168.254.1 Bcast:192.168.254.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:774 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:579 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:100 RX bytes:362290 (353.7 KiB) TX bytes:51218 (50.0 KiB) Interrupt:19 Base address:0x1f00 lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:80 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:80 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:5128 (5.0 KiB) TX bytes:5128 (5.0 KiB) ppp0 Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol inet addr:80.180.66.58 P-t-P:192.168.100.1 Mask:255.255.255.255 UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1492 Metric:1 RX packets:189 errors:212 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:129 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:3 RX bytes:67413 (65.8 KiB) TX bytes:8740 (8.5 KiB) melchior:/home/melchior# Look at the ppp0 section , and look at the RX packets area , the corrupted packages are MORE than the correct packages !! With async mode this doesn't happen . Someone have said me that It could be a kernel bug , is this possible? During the connection I don't see any problem , all runs perfectly .
