I agree this to be reverted. (And the problem is bigger than lockdep, and apparently not limited to suspend). But we merged hacky solution because we wanted something simple for stable, and I don't think that was good idea. (And I'm not sure this is worth fixing in stable, as we don't have reports of people hitting that in that kernels).
