Also I read Documentation/README, Changes, filesystems/devfs. Please find attached the kernel config and dmesg. So I hope someone on the list could explain me what's going on. The problem is that with every 2.6.x release so far (tested from 2.6.0 - 2.6.5-rc2) I don't get my PS/2 Keyboard and Mouse (Mouse and Keybard are connected with the PS/2 adapter) to work under X. I have a KVM attached if that may be of interest. The keyboard is a Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro, the mouse is Microsoft Optical Wheel Mouse. Symptom: Keyboard works in console mode as soon as I start X I see the mouse pointer (I don't use GPM) but the mouse doesn't move. Sometimes I got the keyboard to work, but I found out that switching to console via ++F1 and back also freezes the keyboard, if it is not already freezed by the startup of X, which is most of the time the case. However the system does not seem, to be completly locked up, as the clock is moving on. XFree86 is at version 4.4.0 and the section describing the mouse in XF86Config-4 is as follows: Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Mouse" Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2" Option "Device" "/dev/misc/psaux" Driver "mouse" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" EndSection as you may guess I use devfs and devfsd. I also tried /dev/input/mouse0 and /dev/input/mice all with the same result. I used gcc-3.3.3 to compile the kernel. Please let me know if you need more info describing the problem. I've attached dmesg and the .config Thanx for all your help Carsten --------------020705010009020208060603 Content-Type: text/plain; name="dmesg.txt" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline; filename="dmesg.txt" Mar 27 23:10:05 main kernel: klogd 1.4.1, log source = /proc/kmsg started.
