This would be fairly easy to implement using the patch provided with the Linux Trace Toolkit since all entry points and exit points are known (and it already is available in post-mortem analysis). Implementing the measurement code within the kernel should be fairly easy to implement and it would be provided as part of the compile option. All in all, given the measurements I made, I'd place the overhead at around 1% for the computations.
