In other words, even when /var/lib/pcmcia/stab shows only 2, there are 3 in /sys/class/pcmcia_socket. Also, while working on this today, it seems that the problem is intermittent -- on some boots it notices the 3rd socket a little while later (still during the boot sequence) even when the modules are loaded in the wrong order, and on some boots it doesn't. It's about 50/50 this afternoon. My recollection from the other night is that I got 5 or 10 straight boots with the problem. I don't know what the difference is (though I am on a different network today, as if that should matter).
