[1.] One line summary of the problem: strange error messages concerning memory allocation searching teh web for solutions to my problem I have already found a thread in a mailing list but no solution was mentioned, also the guys who talked about the error didn't answer to my direct mail. [2.] Full description of the problem/report: The machine is a database server without any other service except sshd running. I do some tests on the ICP-Vortex GDT controller every 2 minutes. by using # cat /proc/scsi/gdt/2 but the output of cat stops without beeing completed. This is what I see in the syslog file every time when I use the cat command (the messages beginn after 3 days uptime): --> /var/log/messages kernel: __alloc_pages: 0-order allocation failed (gfp=0x21/0) What do you propose to do for I can get the information I need for longer than three days without reboot? This is a highly used database server in production environment. [3.] Keywords (i.e., modules, networking, kernel): kernel, memory [4.] Kernel version (from /proc/version): Linux version 2.4.27 (root@widbrz01) (gcc version 3.3.1 [5.] Output of Oops.. message (if applicable) with symbolic information resolved (see Documentation/oops-tracing.txt) none [6.] A small shell script or example program which triggers the problem (if possible) see 2.
