I have a script to prepare the kernel/hardware for suspension by removing some modules, stopping some processes etc. This works for swsusp. If I change it to request S3 sleep, and have it resume, it comes back successfully, but the harddisk led stays on, and the kernel spews lots of messages about not being able to access the harddisk (exact messages are very difficult to capture, so please bear with me). Of course this leads to a non-functioning computer ;-) 3. ACPI S3 suspend-to-ram resume libata piix 4.
