If it has sysrq compiled in as root just do: echo s > /proc/sysrq-trigger echo u > /proc/sysre-trigger echo s > /proc/sysrq-trigger echo b > /proc/sysrq-trigger This will "sync", "umount/remount read-only", "sync", "immediate hardware reboot".
