Looks like I was wrong about that part, you seem to call pl353_smc_set_ecc_mode(), just not in the right place (this should be done in the read/write_page_raw()). Also noticed the ecc_memcfg.ecc_extra_block field. Have you tried setting it to 0 for your raw accesses to get rid of the extra PL353_NAND_LAST_TRANSFER_LENGTH transfer?
