I'm using the latest kernel prepatch (2.6.16-rc4) with an AMD X2 processor for these print-outs. In short, I only get these kernel panics when I enable SMP. I can disable SMP and the kernel works great. I can work, play games, or just about anything else. When I enable SMP, everything works until I peak the processor with a compile, by starting Xorg, or something similar. As soon as the processor becomes idle again, the kernel panics. I have captures of two kernel panics here. If you need any extra information or want me to test anything, please let me know. Thanks in advance for your help. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Capture 1 invalid opcode: 0000 [1] SMP CPU 1 rated by 'liloconfig' Modules linked in: snd_pcm_oss snd_mixer_oss md5 ipv6 ipt_recent ipt_REJECT xt_state xt_tcpudp iptable_filter ip_tables x_tables nfs lockd nfs_acl sunrpc uhci_hcd r8169 ohci1394 ieee1394 emu10k1_gp gameport snd_emu10k1 snd_rawmidi snd_ac97_codec snd_ac97_bus snd_pcm snd_seq_device snd_timer snd_page_alloc snd_util_mem snd_hwdep snd tda9887 tuner cx8800 cx88xx video_buf ir_common tveeprom compat_ioctl32 v4l1_compat v4l2_common btcx_risc videodev forcedeth ohci_hcd i2c_nforce2 ehci_hcd Pid: 0, comm: swapper Not tainted 2.6.16-rc4-daga #1 RIP: 0010:[] {timer_interrupt+0} RSP: 0018:ffff8100044d7f10 EFLAGS: 00010002 RAX: 0000000000000001 RBX: ffffffff812cde80 RCX: 0000000000000000 RDX: ffff8100044d1e38 RSI: 0000000000000000 RDI: 0000000000000000 RBP: ffff8100044d1e38 R08: ffff8100044d0000 R09: ffff810003e7c960 R10: 0000000000000000 R11: 0000000000000000 R12: 0000000000000000 R13: 0000000000000000 R14: 0000000000000000 R15: ffff8100044d1e38 PS: 00002b116b65cb00(0000) GS:ffff8100bffa6768(0000) kn1GS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 0018 ES: 0018 CR0: 000000008005003b CR2: 00000000005c0b50 CR3: 00000000045fc000 CR4: 00000000000006e0 Process swapper (pid: 0, threadinfo ffff8100044d0000, task ffff8100bffaa100) Stack: ffffffff81049787 0000000000000000 ffffffff81413d00 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 ffffffff812cde80 ffff8100044d1e38 ffff8100044d7f88 ffffffff8104985e ffff8100044d0000 Call Trace: {handle_IRQ_event+48} {__do_IRQ+161} {do_IRQ+59} {default_idle+0} {ret_from_intr+0} {default_idle+0} {default_idle+47} {cpu_idle+103} {start_secondary+1189} Code: 83 3d 7d d6 38 00 01 55 48 89 d7 48 89 e5 7f 13 e8 50 fc ff RIP {timer_interrupt+0} RSP <0>Kernel panic - not syncing: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!
