In android subsystem, we have minimum two daemons in the userspace which will be interested in knowing these information sent using notification. One daemon will be interested in getting a trip and temperature notification to carry out mitigation action. This is similar to thermald. Other daemon is mostly for broadcasting Android HAL clients when the temperature or the cooling device value changes. This daemon will also be interested in knowing when the trip threshold reaches to notify clients, but wont mitigate. Having a netlink, will make these daemons independent of each other and just rely on the messages being sent from kernel. > The purpose of this series is to provide a fully netlink featured > thermal management. > > This patch is defining a generic netlink API to discover the current > thermal setup, get events and temperature sampling.
