I guess this is because 845/850 supports split-lm (layer mixer), and uses it for horiz resolution above 1080 (MAX_HDISPLAY_SPLIT) I *think* you could probably increase MAX_HDISPLAY_SPLIT to 1920 and it will "work". (Or at least I think our reasons for using a lower value are power, on older gens we only used split mode above 2k width.)
