MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7BIT Content-Disposition: inline Sender: linux-kernel-owner@vger.kernel.org X-Mailing-List: linux-kernel@vger.kernel.org Content-Length: 79889 Lines: 2395 So I was able to recreate this problem on a vanilla 2.6.16.18 with the following oops.. I'd say this is a serious regression since I cannot restore backups anymore (I could with 2.6.14.x, but that kernel series had other issues...) amrestore does manage to read 1 32k block from tape before dying. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -- James Lamanna Unable to handle kernel paging request at ffff82bc81000030 RIP: {kmem_cache_free+82} PGD 0 Oops: 0000 [1] SMP CPU 1 Modules linked in: Pid: 5814, comm: amrestore Not tainted 2.6.16.18 #2 RIP: 0010:[] {kmem_cache_free+82} RSP: 0018:ffff81007d4afcd8 EFLAGS: 00010086 RAX: ffff82bc81000000 RBX: ffff81004119d800 RCX: 000000000000001e RDX: ffff81000000c000 RSI: 0000000000000000 RDI: 00000007f0000000 RBP: ffff81007ff0c800 R08: 0000000000000000 R09: 0000000000000400 R10: 0000000000000000 R11: ffffffff8014b3d6 R12: ffff810041311480 R13: 0000000000000400 R14: 0000000000000400 R15: ffff81007e676748 FS: 00002b7f39708020(0000) GS:ffff810041173bc0(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 000000008005003b CR2: ffff82bc81000030 CR3: 000000007de09000 CR4: 00000000000006e0 Process amrestore (pid: 5814, threadinfo ffff81007d4ae000, task ffff81007e2f8ae0) Stack: 0000000000000000 0000000000000246 ffff8100413c9bc0 ffff81007ff0c800 ffff8100413c9bc0 ffffffff8016dfdc ffff8100413c9bc0 ffff81007fe25408 00000000ffffffea ffffffff803187e7 Call Trace: {bio_free+48} {scsi_execute_async+640} {st_do_scsi+422} {st_sleep_done+0} {st_read+855} {autoremove_wake_function+0} {vfs_read+171} {sys_read+69} {system_call+126} Code: 48 8b 48 30 0f b7 51 28 65 8b 04 25 30 00 00 00 39 c2 0f 84 RIP {kmem_cache_free+82} RSP CR2: ffff82bc81000030 dmesg: Bootdata ok (command line is root=/dev/sda3 netconsole=@10.20.2.30/eth1,10001@10.20.2.15/) Linux version 2.6.16.18 (root@fs0) (gcc version 3.4.3 20041125 (Gentoo 3.4.3-r1, ssp-3.4.3-0, pie-8.7.7)) #2 SMP Tue May 23 18:12:01 PDT 2006 BIOS-provided physical RAM map: BIOS-e820: 0000000000000000 - 0000000000099000 (usable) BIOS-e820: 0000000000099000 - 00000000000a0000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000000c2000 - 0000000000100000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 0000000000100000 - 000000007ff20000 (usable) BIOS-e820: 000000007ff20000 - 000000007ff2f000 (ACPI data) BIOS-e820: 000000007ff2f000 - 000000007ff80000 (ACPI NVS) BIOS-e820: 000000007ff80000 - 0000000080000000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000e0000000 - 00000000f0000000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000fec00000 - 00000000fec00400 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000fee00000 - 00000000fee01000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000fff80000 - 0000000100000000 (reserved) ACPI: RSDP (v000 PTLTD ) @ 0x00000000000f6f80 ACPI: RSDT (v001 PTLTD RSDT 0x06040000 LTP 0x00000000) @ 0x000000007ff2af87 ACPI: FADT (v001 NVIDIA CK8S 0x06040000 PTL_ 0x000f4240) @ 0x000000007ff2ec9e ACPI: SSDT (v001 PTLTD POWERNOW 0x06040000 LTP 0x00000001) @ 0x000000007ff2ed12 ACPI: SRAT (v001 AMD HAMMER 0x06040000 AMD 0x00000001) @ 0x000000007ff2ee9a ACPI: MADT (v001 PTLTD APIC 0x06040000 LTP 0x00000000) @ 0x000000007ff2ef62 ACPI: BOOT (v001 PTLTD $SBFTBL$ 0x06040000 LTP 0x00000001) @ 0x000000007ff2efd8 ACPI: DSDT (v001 NVIDIA CK8 0x06040000 MSFT 0x0100000e) @ 0x0000000000000000 SRAT: PXM 0 -> APIC 0 -> Node 0 SRAT: PXM 1 -> APIC 1 -> Node 1 SRAT: Node 0 PXM 0 0-a0000 SRAT: Node 0 PXM 0 0-40000000 SRAT: Node 1 PXM 1 40000000-80000000 NUMA: Using 30 for the hash shift.
