So to clarify the plan: if we do actually move forwards with leaving the current functionality as the default, do we need to have the complete list of devices which need the quirk applied when the patch first goes in? From my perspective, we definitely have one device which needs the quirk (and preferably, it'd be good to do it sooner than later so that we can get this bugfix out to our users) and an unknowable number of others. Would it be OK to introduce the quirk for just Pixelbook and to follow up to add others once we have that list? It may take a good amount of time for me to herd the cats inside Google, especially given there's a chance that there are affected laptops and that no one has noticed (e.g., I almost didn't notice with the Pixelbook).
