You need to change this line: isicom_normal->flags = TTY_DRIVER_REAL_RAW; To: isicom_normal->flags = TTY_DRIVER_REAL_RAW | TTY_DRIVER_DYNAMIC_DEV; In the "drivers/char/isicom.c" file.
