On 2.6.19 the link status is working (follows cable plug/unplug), but no tx or rx packets get thru. Attempts to transmit occasionally result in tx timed out errors in dmesg, but I cannot seem to generate these at will. On 2.6.20-rc5, the link status does not work (link is always down), and as expected no tx or rx. No tx timed out errors this time, presumably because it thinks the link is down. Note that both the switch and the LEDs on the NIC indicate a good 1000 Mbps link. dmesg, 'cat /proc/interrupts', and 'lspci -vvv' attached for 2.6.20-rc5. The data from 2.6.19 is essentially the same. > On top of that I posted a patch to rc5-mm yesterday that fixes a few > significant bugs in the rc5-mm driver, so please apply that patch too > before trying, so we're not wasting our time finding old bugs ;) I haven't been able to test rc5-mm yet because it won't boot on this box. Applying git-e1000 directly to -rc4 or -rc5 results in a number of rejects that I'm not sure how to fix. Some are obvious, but the others I'm unsure of. --Adam ------=_NextPart_000_00D4_01C73BF5.C9D208C0 Content-Type: application/octet-stream; name="dmesg-2.6.20-rc5" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="dmesg-2.6.20-rc5" Linux version 2.6.20-rc5 (adk0212@devbox3) (gcc version 4.1.1 20061011 = (Red Hat 4.1.1-30)) #1 SMP Sun Jan 14 13:14:52 EST 2007=0A= Command line: ro root=3D/dev/sda3=0A= BIOS-provided physical RAM map:=0A= BIOS-e820: 0000000000000000 - 000000000009f000 (usable)=0A= BIOS-e820: 000000000009f000 - 00000000000a0000 (reserved)=0A= BIOS-e820: 00000000000f0000 - 0000000000100000 (reserved)=0A= BIOS-e820: 0000000000100000 - 000000003bee0000 (usable)=0A= BIOS-e820: 000000003bee0000 - 000000003bee3000 (ACPI NVS)=0A= BIOS-e820: 000000003bee3000 - 000000003bef0000 (ACPI data)=0A= BIOS-e820: 000000003bef0000 - 000000003bf00000 (reserved)=0A= BIOS-e820: 000000003c000000 - 0000000040000000 (reserved)=0A= BIOS-e820: 00000000f0000000 - 00000000f4000000 (reserved)=0A= BIOS-e820: 00000000fec00000 - 0000000100000000 (reserved)=0A= Entering add_active_range(0, 0, 159) 0 entries of 3200 used=0A= Entering add_active_range(0, 256, 245472) 1 entries of 3200 used=0A= end_pfn_map =3D 1048576=0A= DMI 2.4 present.=0A= ACPI: RSDP (v000 DELL ) @ = 0x00000000000f83d0=0A= ACPI: RSDT (v001 DELL bMk 0x42302e31 AWRD 0x00000000) @ = 0x000000003bee3040=0A= ACPI: FADT (v001 DELL bMk 0x42302e31 AWRD 0x00000000) @ = 0x000000003bee3100=0A= ACPI: BOOT (v001 DELL bMk 0x42302e31 AWRD 0x00000000) @ = 0x000000003bee8b40=0A= ACPI: SSDT (v001 PTLTD POWERNOW 0x00000001 LTP 0x00000001) @ = 0x000000003bee8c80=0A= ACPI: HPET (v001 DELL bMk 0x42302e31 AWRD 0x00000098) @ = 0x000000003bee8ec0=0A= ACPI: MCFG (v001 DELL bMk 0x42302e31 AWRD 0x00000000) @ = 0x000000003bee8f40=0A= ACPI: SLIC (v001 DELL bMk 0x42302e31 AWRD 0x0100000e) @ = 0x000000003bee8fc0=0A= ACPI: MADT (v001 DELL bMk 0x42302e31 AWRD 0x00000000) @ = 0x000000003bee8bc0=0A= ACPI: DSDT (v001 DELL BMK 0x00001000 MSFT 0x0100000e) @ = 0x0000000000000000=0A= Scanning NUMA topology in Northbridge 24=0A= Number of nodes 1=0A= Node 0 MemBase 0000000000000000 Limit 000000003bee0000=0A= Entering add_active_range(0, 0, 159) 0 entries of 3200 used=0A= Entering add_active_range(0, 256, 245472) 1 entries of 3200 used=0A= NUMA: Using 63 for the hash shift.=0A= Using node hash shift of 63=0A= Bootmem setup node 0 0000000000000000-000000003bee0000=0A= Zone PFN ranges:=0A= DMA 0 -> 4096=0A= DMA32 4096 -> 1048576=0A= Normal 1048576 -> 1048576=0A= early_node_map[2] active PFN ranges=0A= 0: 0 -> 159=0A= 0: 256 -> 245472=0A= On node 0 totalpages: 245375=0A= DMA zone: 56 pages used for memmap=0A= DMA zone: 24 pages reserved=0A= DMA zone: 3919 pages, LIFO batch:0=0A= DMA32 zone: 3300 pages used for memmap=0A= DMA32 zone: 238076 pages, LIFO batch:31=0A= Normal zone: 0 pages used for memmap=0A= ACPI: PM-Timer IO Port: 0x1008=0A= ACPI: Local APIC address 0xfee00000=0A= ACPI: LAPIC (acpi_id[0x00] lapic_id[0x00] enabled)=0A= Processor #0 (Bootup-CPU)=0A= ACPI: LAPIC (acpi_id[0x01] lapic_id[0x01] enabled)=0A= Processor #1=0A= ACPI: LAPIC_NMI (acpi_id[0x00] high edge lint[0x1])=0A= ACPI: LAPIC_NMI (acpi_id[0x01] high edge lint[0x1])=0A= ACPI: IOAPIC (id[0x02] address[0xfec00000] gsi_base[0])=0A= IOAPIC[0]: apic_id 2, address 0xfec00000, GSI 0-23=0A= ACPI: INT_SRC_OVR (bus 0 bus_irq 9 global_irq 9 high level)=0A= ACPI: INT_SRC_OVR (bus 0 bus_irq 14 global_irq 14 high edge)=0A= ACPI: INT_SRC_OVR (bus 0 bus_irq 15 global_irq 15 high edge)=0A= ACPI: IRQ9 used by override.=0A= ACPI: IRQ14 used by override.=0A= ACPI: IRQ15 used by override.=0A= Setting APIC routing to physical flat=0A= ACPI: HPET id: 0x10b9a201 base: 0xfeff0000=0A= Using ACPI (MADT) for SMP configuration information=0A= Nosave address range: 000000000009f000 - 00000000000a0000=0A= Nosave address range: 00000000000a0000 - 00000000000f0000=0A= Nosave address range: 00000000000f0000 - 0000000000100000=0A= Allocating PCI resources starting at 50000000 (gap: 40000000:b0000000)=0A= SMP: Allowing 2 CPUs, 0 hotplug CPUs=0A= PERCPU: Allocating 67136 bytes of per cpu data=0A= Built 1 zonelists.
