Sadly my wireless card (pcmcia) has stopped working under this system. Seeing a backttrace in the dmesg output made me believe it's a kernel problem. I built a vanilla kernel to see if maybe ubuntu mods are the issue, but no dice. I tried different combinations of boot parameters (pci=routeirq, etc..) It seems this message comes about when hald is started, but i don't know for sure. Anyways, here's my dmesg output (the relevant message is near the end, but i thought that maybe i should include it all). I'm grateful for all pointers, etc.. If you need more info, please let me know. Thanks, Flo [ 0.000000] Linux version 2.6.20vanilla (tapas@banana) (gcc version 4.1.2 20070129 (prerelease) (Ubuntu 4.1.1-31ubuntu2)) #1 Sat Feb 10 19:50:29 CET 2007 [ 0.000000] BIOS-provided physical RAM map: [ 0.000000] sanitize start [ 0.000000] sanitize end [ 0.000000] copy_e820_map() start: 0000000000000000 size: 000000000009f800 end: 000000000009f800 type: 1 [ 0.000000] copy_e820_map() type is E820_RAM [ 0.000000] copy_e820_map() start: 000000000009f800 size: 0000000000000800 end: 00000000000a0000 type: 2 [ 0.000000] copy_e820_map() start: 00000000000e0000 size: 0000000000020000 end: 0000000000100000 type: 2 [ 0.000000] copy_e820_map() start: 0000000000100000 size: 0000000017ef0000 end: 0000000017ff0000 type: 1 [ 0.000000] copy_e820_map() type is E820_RAM [ 0.000000] copy_e820_map() start: 0000000017ff0000 size: 000000000000ec00 end: 0000000017ffec00 type: 3 [ 0.000000] copy_e820_map() start: 0000000017ffec00 size: 0000000000001400 end: 0000000018000000 type: 4 [ 0.000000] copy_e820_map() start: 00000000fff80000 size: 0000000000080000 end: 0000000100000000 type: 2 [ 0.000000] BIOS-e820: 0000000000000000 - 000000000009f800 (usable) [ 0.000000] BIOS-e820: 000000000009f800 - 00000000000a0000 (reserved) [ 0.000000] BIOS-e820: 00000000000e0000 - 0000000000100000 (reserved) [ 0.000000] BIOS-e820: 0000000000100000 - 0000000017ff0000 (usable) [ 0.000000] BIOS-e820: 0000000017ff0000 - 0000000017ffec00 (ACPI data) [ 0.000000] BIOS-e820: 0000000017ffec00 - 0000000018000000 (ACPI NVS) [ 0.000000] BIOS-e820: 00000000fff80000 - 0000000100000000 (reserved) [ 0.000000] 0MB HIGHMEM available.
