That's what -pre releases and folks testing with ancient (but tried and tested) releases are for. ;-) It sounds like it's easily revertable, but maybe it's worth putting the axe in egcs compatibility for other people? ... Dunno. So reverting this single patch is kosher? Two SMP boxes here seem okay so far without it.
