GUP-fast is a problem as you say,, but it feels like a fundamental issue with GUP-fast as a whole since you don't get to look at a VMA since you can't take the mmap_lock. You could just look at the folio->mapping once you've walked the page tables and say 'I'm out' if FOLL_WRITE and it's non-anon if that's what you're suggesting?
