Also just for my understanding: The function dp_catalog_ctrl_hpd_enable() only enables handling of the HPD pin, it has no other side effects? So for the DP case if we have external HPD events, we don't need to call it, correct? Also, could you please add a followup patch that drop dp_display->internal_hpd and always uses the same codepath for both cases?
