I am using the 2.5 series on a couple of machine (mainly because they now have ALSA and preempt in) and one is running fine, the other oopses on boot to 2.5.6 or 2.5.7-pre1. I think the problem is from reiserfs somewhere. Attached are the ksymoops interpretations of the two Oops (which seem virtually identical), and also the kernel logs of boot to both kernels. I have reiserfs on my root partition, and it is in the 3.5 format (haven't got found out how to convert to 3.6) which may be significant. All other partitions are in the 3.6 format. The last known working 2.5 kernel for me is 2.5.6-pre1. If you want any more information, please let me know.
