What you need is a statement that API XYZ is the One True API, *and* statements from the non-XYZ vendors that they intend to move in that direction. Let's face it - if you don't get NVidia and AMD saying they're both going in the same direction, you end up having to support both directions no matter what we say regarding the desired direction. Anybody who doesn't believe that is invited to look at some of the APIs that distros are carrying as patches for 18 months and more, even though Linus has publicly called the API a piece of crap. --==_Exmh_1266605284_16275P Content-Type: application/pgp-signature -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.10 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Exmh version 2.5 07/13/2001 iD8DBQFLftzkcC3lWbTT17ARApTEAKD2OErIr21JcawNXsfwQIgVGm/pTwCgvP0U 4vibAWxWiIn5t8LtZBSne38= =ZGQz -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --==_Exmh_1266605284_16275P-- -- To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-kernel" in the body of a message to majordomo@vger.kernel.org More majordomo info at http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html Please read the FAQ at http://www.tux.org/lkml/
