In any case, there is little point in arguing about this without some justification and code to back it up. AFAICS, the only benefit to this is that you wouldn't need to separately specify that this string meant an NFS mount, since you can infer that from the URL prefix. Most of the tools we work with that handle mounts (e.g. fstab, systemd mount unit syntax, k8s, etc...) require you to specify the mount type separately anyway. So, I'll ask again...where do you plan to use this feature? What downstream changes to tooling can we expect to see if we were to have mount.nfs understand this syntax? Will you also be patching /bin/mount to recognize NFS URLs and pass them along to the right mount helper? --=20 Jeff Layton
