I would think that your w2k server does not allow the linux device to connect.  
Check if services are ON and pairing is set properly

It also just crossed my mind that the W2K detects the linux PDA not as a PDA 
but as an unrecognized device and might refuse the connection because of 
this... but I am not sure ...
