and according to your inputs and experiments from Ying, we got the idea this
commit could benefit some workloads but cause regression on others.
now we noticed this commit in tip now, and we found another regression in one
PTS test (the fsmark regression reported in bb2dee337b report is also
reproduced). just FYI
