Robert,
I would say you try to trace the lockd/statd activity in your Linux box.
Recent versions of statd shipped with readhat are broken so this may have
some influence.
to trace you can run statd with -F -d options to get statd log and you can
do echo dec(0xFFFF) > /proc/sys/sunrpc/nlm_debug (which will put messages
in /var/log/messages
If you post those logs here we would be able to see whats going on in your
case.
Same in the FreeBSD side
Juan

Subject: [NFS] FreeBSD -> Linux locking problems
Hello,
I am using a FreeBSD System as server for nfs and nis for
linux clients.
Unfortunately nfs-file locking does not work although
nlockmgr and rpc.statd are running on both systems.
The FAQ says nothing about troubles with FreeBSD and Linux
concerning locks.
Does anybody know about this Problem and/or how to solve it?
Greetings,
Robert

Has this patch been posted on Trond's site? If so can you refer me to it?
It's not marked under the 2.4.20 directory. If it hasn't been posted, can
it be?

OK, fair enough.
