Subject: [PATCH] devfs v183 available

Hi, all. Version 183 of my devfs patch is now available from:
http://www.atnf.csiro.au/~rgooch/linux/kernel-patches.html
The devfs FAQ is also available here.

Patch directly available from:
ftp://ftp.??.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/rgooch/v2.4/devfs-patch-current.gz

AND:
ftp://ftp.atnf.csiro.au/pub/people/rgooch/linux/kernel-patches/v2.4/devfs-patch-current.gz

This is against 2.4.7. Highlights of this release:

- Fixed bug in <devfs_setup> which could hang boot process

Richard....

Subject: Re: [PATCH] devfs v183 available

I have two questions -- please forgive me if they are somewhat dumb.

First, if I have the 2.4.7 source tree what patch level of devfs do I
have -- how is that related to the devfs 183 you announced?

Second, I need to change a driver which is now not devfs aware, but
hangs the kernel if devfs is not present -- where can I get
documentation for the devfs api?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Check Documentation/filesystems/devfs/ChangeLog

Build the man pages: the source code has markups so that documentation
can be automatically extracted.

OK, thanks much -- but how do I build the man pages -- I saw nothing
in the source which said anything about it.

Thanks again for your quick response.

not sure about manpages but you can easily build postscript or html
docs. as it says in the toplevel README file, 'make htmldocs'
