Subject: 2.4.10 doesn't boot

Hi,
I'm unable to boot Kernel 2.4.10 (I also tried 2.4.10-ac3).
I get:

LILO Loading linux ...........
Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel.

And then nothing happens.
2.4.7 boots without problems.

What goes wrong here?

Regards
Stefan

o know this can sound stupid but is your machine overclocked ?

Since kernel 2.4.9, it seems to be more sensitive about overclocked
speed than before ...

No, it's not overclocked.
It's a plain P-III 650MHz.
I have another machine with an 1.4GHz Athlon that works perfect.

Reply to my on mail.
I was trying to boot an Athlon optimized kernel on a Pentium Box.
Now it's optimized for Pentium and it boots.

Could you please include more details, like your MB, CPU, memory,
controllers and the like?

Luigi

This one caught me, too (building kernels for diskless ws).
Isn't it feasable to build in a check for the compiled architecture
into the loader, and kernel panic instead of just dying...

The default type of the processor has changed from P-II to P-III.

If you have P-II and not changed the default the system will not boot.

Check your linux/.config file (e.g. make xconfig)
