As the Founding Fathers knew well, a government that does not trust its honest,
law-abiding, taxpaying citizens with the means of self-defense is not itself
worthy of trust. Laws disarming honest citizens proclaim that the government
is the master, not the servant, of the people.

Got the laptop. What's a netstumbler?

The people of the various provinces are strictly forbidden to have in their
possession any swords, short swords, bows, spears, firearms, or other types
of arms. The possession of unnecessary implements makes difficult the
collection of taxes and dues and tends to foment uprisings.

You'll also need a "WiFi" (802.11b) card.

netstumbler is a program that looks for unsecured or insecure wireless
LANs as you sumble around.

Program for finding and sniffing WAP's on your wireless card.

http://www.netstumbler.org

I see downloads for windows, bsd and linux. wellenreiter should do what
you want, i think.

There's even maps available there, so you know what street to go stand on
to download your mail!

I really don't know too much about this stuff, I have 10 aeronet 350's and
a 350 series WAP sitting under my desk that Cisco gave to me for free, but
no time to play.

Very nice article on the front page of that site about american airlines
using 802.11b, the group that audited them say they even witnessed an
intrustion while scanning the airline's setup.
