You already have 700 1-port console servers.
Plug each machine into it's neighbor with a null modem.
Teach mgetty to do something useful with serial dumps.

And how, praytell, am I supposed to do that when most of my cluster nodes
only have one (1) serial port? Buy 700 serial cards, or a half-ton of USB
serial port dongles?

Do you feel like donating 700 serial ports? Right, so it's LKCD for me then.

That's plenty. The RX wire and the TX wire don't have to go to the
same machine :-))
