May any tell me what is going bad with my card? is just a problem of drivers?

Note: add to this .. if i set the IDE driver over UDMA33 i get DME timeout
and the system halt. Seeting UDMA to 33 the systems works withput problems
or needing any intervention for months.

Hi there Scott,

my card (which not need any patch for working on in 2.4.18 but doesnt
work (its simply not detected) on next versions) is:

HighPoint Technologies, Inc.
HPT370 UDMA/ATA100 RAID Controller BIOS v1.0.3b1

have u any idea?

Im so lost...
do u wanna /proc/cpuinfo or anything?

Make sure you have the HPT driver compiled into your kernel

From '/proc/pci' i can found JUST THE SAME in 2.4.18 and 2.4.21-pre2

anyway the dmesg-files are just as u can see in attached files.

(thanks Mark Hahn for info about /proc/pci),

Maybe you have selected only RAID part of HPT370 in your kernel config,
not the driver part at all.

RAID part in menuconfig (this seems to be on):
<*> Support for IDE Raid controllers (EXPERIMENTAL)
...
<*> Highpoint 370 software RAID (EXPERIMENTAL)

But you also need the driver, as in menuconfig (this seems to be off):
[*] HPT366/368/370 chipset support

Maybe the RAID part should not be selectable without the driver,
but when making own kernels you should know about many options
anyway.
