However, I can't find the actual error message. Strange.
I have an off-topic question:
What happened to sym-53c8xxx driver? It appears that nobody is
actively maintaining it. Yet, there is not much complain traffic over
any malfunction for this LSI's SCSI card driver. Does it mean
that the latter is much more stable than aic7xxx driver for
Adaptec cards?

Hugh

This driver is compiled with -Werror turning ever warning into an error.
Although you say you are using "linux-2.4.22" it seems you aren't using
the ftp.kernel.org 2.4.22 but a modified version (the real 2.4.22
doesn't know about -march=pentium4).
Perhaps your vendor of this modified kernel source introduced a bug
causing this compile error?
