Subject: Problems with SB Live using 2.6.15.3

I have been having problems using my SBLive card (details of which
card below), with Linux 2.6.15 kernel. It works fine in 2.6.14, but
alsa mixers refuse to work in the 15 series. Here is the output when
modprobing snd-emu10k1 .

modprobe snd-emu10k1

I did this with no asound.state file at all, so I don't know where it
got this error from. I tried doing stores and removing what I thought
were duplicate controls, but no joy.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

This isn't really an answer to your problem, but I had a problem with
SB Live! when I upgraded my kernel from 2.6.15.3 to 2.6.15.4. On
boot-up, alsactl restore couldn't enable my sound because of wrong or
duplicate names in the settings file. I ended up running alsamixer and
alsactl store to correct it.

However, I could not run alsamixer or amixr -- they always gave me
those errors.

Your problem should be solved in 2.6.15.4.

Haven't tried it yet, but looks like that's it from the changelog!
Thanks much.
