Subject: [PATCH v3 00/14] ARM: pxa: switch to DMA slave maps

As I gathered almost all the required acks, this is an information only post
before queuing to the PXA tree.

The only missing part is for netdev, for which I'd like an ack from netdev
people for patches 0007 and 0008, but that won't prevent me from queuing all the
other patches (excepting the patch 0012 which can only be applied once 0007 and
0008 are queued).

Cheers.

As the pxa architecture switched towards the dmaengine slave map, the
old compatibility mechanism to acquire the dma requestor line number and

This patch simplifies the dma resource acquisition, using the more
generic function dma_request_slave_channel().

Subject: [PATCH v3 14/14] ARM: pxa: change SSP DMA channels allocation

Now the dma_slave_map is available for PXA architecture, switch the SSP
device to it.

This specifically means that :
- for platform data based machines, the DMA requestor channels are
extracted from the slave map, where pxa-ssp-dai.<N> is a 1-1 match to
ssp.<N>, and the channels are either "rx" or "tx".

- for device tree platforms, the dma node should be hooked into the
pxa2xx-ac97 or pxa-ssp-dai node.

In order to remove the specific knowledge of the dma mapping from PXA

This won't impact MMP architecture, but is aimed only at all PXA boards.

This is the first step, and once all drivers are converted,

Subject: [PATCH v3 08/14] net: smc91x: remove the dmaengine compat need

As the pxa architecture switched towards the dmaengine slave map, the
old compatibility mechanism to acquire the dma requestor line number and
priority are not needed anymore.

This patch simplifies the dma resource acquisition, using the more
generic function dma_request_slave_channel().

Something went wrong here, but you can simply fix that when applying the
series :)

Subject: Re: [PATCH v3 09/14] ASoC: pxa: remove the dmaengine compat need

Hi Mark,

I prepared a series of patches for 4.18 that conflict with this one.
Instead of letting other people resolve this down the road, I'd prefer
if this one went through the ASoC tree, if you don't mind.

I've talked to Robert off-list, and he's fine with this approach.

Thanks,
Daniel

We'll need an immutable branch/tag containing those changes, just in
case other conflicting changes get submitted to the NAND driver.

Thanks,

Indeed, fixed before applying to the pxa/for-next tree.

Sure, this branch will be usable from next Wednesday onward, here :
- git fetch https://github.com/rjarzmik/linux.git
tags/pxa-for-4.19-dma_slave_map

I must insist on "Wednesday", as I need to have one last pass from 0-day kernel
checker to be fully covered, and I'd like as well to know which tree the ASoC
patch will take, ie. if Mark commits to take it, or rather wants to pull from
the imutable branch.

Until Wednesday, even if the branch exist, consider it doesn't please, and
Thursday morning you can pull if you wish.

Cheers.

Don't worry, we're not planning to merge it unless it happens to be
required (Stephen Rothwell reporting a merge conflict in next), and we
don't have conflicting changes in the pipeline so far.

Ok, great.

We're good to go, no screaming from 0-day, my internal testbench is happy,
everything looks fine, the tag is unmutable until v4.19.

Cheers.

Hi David,

I have converted all the pxa related drivers to DMA slave maps, the only 2 that
remain in my queue are touching your tree, ie. smc911x and smc91x (see [1]).

Once these 2 are done, I have my last dependency on the dma filter function
removed, and can queue the remaining cleanup patches.

Could you (or somebody from netdev) review it and either ack it (and I'll take
it through the pxa tree), or take it for v4.19 please ?

Cheers.

That's right.

I'll tentativaly queue this patch to my pxa/for-next tree. As soon as I hear
that Mark queued it up in his tree, I'll drop it from mine.

Cheers.

I'll pull the branch in (a signed tag would've been nicer but it's not
the end of the world).

Yeah, I realised that too ... late.

Anyways, the immutable branch doesn't contain the specific ASoC patch "ASoC:
pxa: remove the dmaengine compat need", and up to my better understanding
neither does your for-next branch.

So until I see it in your branch it will dwelve happily in pxa/for-next. If it
has to be routed through your tree, so that Daniel can work on ASoC pxa, I'd
like to know at -rc4 time so that I drop it from my pxa/for-next branch.

Cheers.

Ah, yes. The series I just posted depends on that.

Ugh, please resend this patch so I know what's going on :( My
understanding was that I was pulling a tag with the dependencies.
