Subject: [ANNOUNCE] using 2.5.25 with IDE

Contrary to the popular belief 2.5.25 has only Martin's IDE-93
and has broken locking...

If you want to run IDE on 2.5.25 get and apply:

IDE-94 by Martin
IDE-95/96/97/98-pre by me

...or run it with 2.4 IDE core as previously announced by Jens Axboe :-)

Computers are like air conditioners.
They stop working when you open Windows.

2.4 IDE + 2.5 block layer = PIO still broken :-)
(broken error recovery and data integrity on error)

Mostly you dont care unless CRC or sector error bites you
and you are screwed ;-)

But do not worry, I'm near to fixing it for 2.5.

Just for convenience, now that the 2.4 IDE backport has a BK tree, I've
put the above patches into BK, too, so anyone can pull them from:

http://linux-ide.bkbits.net:8080/linux-ide

I'll try to keep it up to date with latest 2.5 (hopefully working) IDE.

Applying the patches (incl the 98-pre patch)
gives two compile errors in tcq.c.

Fixing those (trivial), made the system crash just after finding the first HD,
giving the output: 'tcq_start'

The system was rebootable with <sys-rq><b>.

Well Mr Hill,

If you could stop to think for two seconds, there is a reason and forward
thinking by Jens. You can not move a development kernel forward if the
most widely used storage platform is borked and people have no faith.

Port forwarding the original working core is allowing other more difficult
development changes to be tested in a wider forum.

Who knows I may try to get back in the game, and competiton is good.
Also I play to win and have at least another shirt sleeve of ACES to play
should I choose to join the poker match.

Cheers,

Thanks, known and should be already fixed by Alexander Atanasov.
