Subject: Problem - 2.6.0 Kernel and irq 18: nobody cared!

Hi,

I have a ACPI problem wenn I use the new 2.6.0 Kernel (with 2.6.0-rc1/2
same problem)

After the kernel initialize my IDE-ports I get the message:
irq 18: nobody cared!
and I get this message repeatedly, so that I can't use my pc anymore.

dmesg:

I'm able to boot when I add "noirqdebug" as a kernel parameter but then
ACPI doesn't work (My pc doesn't power down) and sometimes my pc stops
and does for a moment nothing without writing any error messages.

With the 2.4.23 kernel my pc does only boot with "acpi=off". Hyper
Threading doesn't work and therefore I have a bad performance.

Does anyone know what's wrong? Thanks fo help.

This looks like the same problem which Rapha?l RIGO mentioned recently.
There seems to be a problem with the handling of the IDE controller when
it is in native mode.
The workaround provided by Matthias Hentges was as follows:

> See http://www.hentges.net/howtos/p4p800_SATA.html for details.
