Hi:
Does anyone knows of a patch to configure VIA VT 6410 Raid controller? I'm
using Mandriva 2006 with kernel 2.6.12-12mdksmp and I'm not beeing able to
use the PATA Hdd that is connected to VT 6410.
Thanks

See attachment. This has been merged into the 2.6.15 tree.
Daniel

Can you explain what you mean by you don't "see" it? Where are you looking?
You could also post the output of:
dmesg
lspci
lspci -n

No.
Daniel
Thank you, Daniel.

I'm looking in the "Devices" Desktop shortcut (Mandriva2006). It appears sda1,
hda (DVD), hdb (DVD-Recorder) and floppy, but no reference to the Pata HDD.
This is the same as "device:/" in konqueror.
The output of the commands are attached.
Best regards.

You don't seem to have VIA IDE driver compiled in et all.
Could you retry with Daniel's patch applied and "VIA82CXXX chipset
support" (CONFIG_BLK_DEV_VIA82CXXX config option) compiled-in?
Yes, help entry should be updated. :-)
Thanks,

I believe this option is inserted after "make xconfig", when "qconf" window
appears. Sorry for this, it is my first time compiling the kernel. Perhaps it
is not bad ideia to say what I'm doing:
In /usr/src/linux:
1. Ataching the patch:
# cat /root/via6410.patch | patch -p1
(I renamed the patch file to via6410.patch)
2.# make xconfig
3. # make
# sudo modules_install install
4. Reboot.
All this went with no error messages and the system reboots OK, with the new
kernel in the Lillo boot options.
Regards and thanks for your help.

Hello:
I was finally able to install the patch. I have now the Pata HDD as drive
hdg. Thank you, Daniel and Bartlomiej.
