My sis630 chipset shipped with Asus A1000
doesn't work properly with suspend with ide drivers
(http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7077)

i tried to switch to libata but i cannot boot.
I've enabled generic ide and sis specific code, both in-kernel. of
course scsi too.

when i boot i get: irq #14 nobody cared and stop

i have to remove battery to reboot pc.
I'm using 2.6.22.5, but i never got any libata kernel working.

Patrizio

ps. i'm writing from my desktop as i'm doing hardware mainteinance on
the laptop and could not boot it

Please CC me.

I tagged it onto the obscure IDE report pile. It doesn't contain any
really useful information and its probably not an IDE layer bug as of
itself. But its on the todo list for further investigation and to see if
patterns emerge

I shall give this a spin too, since I happen to have sis5513.

Just booted this fresh ata-enabled system (a matter of mkinitrd). It has
not exploded yet.

No, does not seem so.

Maybe it is solved in 2.6.22.3? (I don't remember what your version
was.)

Looks more like a platform irq routing issue than an ata issue.

Perhaps an x86 or an acpi person can help out with this.

Probably nothing will happen, in which case I'll get back to you later
and ask you to raise a bugzilla entry, not that this will get it fixed :(

Patrizio, have you tried with the old IDE? (And without suspend at that...)

yes yes old IDE works ok, but the suspend functionality is broken....
so, as i compile scsi subsystem for usb-storage i wanted to move to the
new libata, but i found this issue...

Well, that is a starting point. Now it is time for some ide dev :)

w.r.t. to suspend problem (http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7077):
please try latest -mm kernel, it contains many fixes for sis5513 host driver.

I assume you tried the standard workarounds, like

pci=nommconf,nomsi
pci=noacpi
pci=biosirq

(one at at time, not all at once.)
