Subject: PROBLEM: Ali m5602 won't compile (3.4.9-gentoo)

Hello,

I have trouble compiling the 3.4.9 kernel with genkernel (gentoo)
having enabled the Ali Corp webcam (m5602) driver.

Here's the output of the ver_linux script:

My current kernel configuration is attached to this mail. What I
tried to do, was to enable the Ali Corp webcam (m5602) driver using
menuconfig as follows:

I'm confused, your attached kernel config does not enable MEDIA_SUPPORT.
You should attach the problematic config.

The problem is not the compilation, but the linking step.

The reason is you are choosing gspca as built-in, but usb as module.
Just choose gspca + m5602 as module and it will be solved.

However, I'm not sure how to fix this (if it's at all fixable).
