Before spending money on a new VIA motherboard with the KT400 and VT8235
south bridge, I'd like to know if they're supported in 2.4 and 2.5. Are
they?
Is there anyplace that lists supported chipsets, at least for 2,4?
thanks

Actually, I tried one tonight. It turns out that agpgart is not supported by
2.4 or 2.5.
Do you mean I can just stick a PCI id (where do I find it?) in some table
(filename?)? How?
thanks

2.5 supports it, 2.4 needs a patch.

OK. From lspic:
00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc.: Unknown device 3189
00:01.0 PCI bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc.: Unknown device b168
from lspci -n:
00:00.0 Class 0600: 1106:3189
00:01.0 Class 0604: 1106:b168
So I take 1106:3189 and 1106:b168 and stick them where?

Well, sort of. I actually found someone who had one. Booted up 2.5.42.
Everything seems to work except agpgart:
agpgart: Maximum main memory to use for agp memory: 439M
agpgart: Unsupported Via chipset (device id: 3189), you might want to try
agp_try_unsupported=1.
agpgart: no supported devices found.
Is there a patch for 2.4? In one of the pre's?
thanks
jay
