Why don't you think this is usb problem?

I use motherboard ASUS M2NPV-MX, I use Fedora 5. I got the same
problem that you had, after I upgrade kernel from 2.6.15-1.2054 to
kernel-2.6.17-1.2174_FC5, it hung on boot:

io scheduler cfq registered

So I guess this related with new nforce chipset, but have no idea
which components got trouble.

Was it stable for you with 2.6.15 kernel? With gentoo live cd (it was 2.6.15
or 2.6.16, don't remember) it wasn't for me. 2.6.18-rc4 is now stable for me
once hacked out the acpi_skip_timer_override quirk, as I mentioned in another
thread. But till now I got no response about that...
