Subject: [Bluez-users] How can I establish the communication between BT enabled device and FC 3 Linux box

Dear All,

I am new to this Bluetooth Technology. I am working on Fedora Core 3
with 2.6.9-1.667 kernel version.=20
My question is: If I have a bluetooth device, How can I connect to my
Fedora Core 3 Linux Box using this Bluetooth enabled Device? I have seen
on the net about BlueZ and Affix protocol stacks that support the Linux
kernels.=20

How can I establish the communication between my Bluetooth enabled
device and Linux box?=20
What are the steps I need to do it?=20

Could any one provide me some information or links on this?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Srinivas G

Dear Phil,

First of all, thanks a lot for your reply.=20

I am planning to write a driver/applications which use the PCI based
bluetooth devices. I need to know the following things.

1) Is it necessary to configure/install the BlueZ packages on my
Linux box which uses the Fedora Core 3 with 2.6.9-1.667 kernel
version?=20

I think this is not required, because 2.6.x kernel comes with
Bluetooth protocols. The following link contains this info.

Could you please tell me whether I need to install the packages
explicitly or not?

2) I need to learn the Bluetooth architecture on Linux systems.
Could you please forward me any links that you can know about the
Bluetooth architecture under Linux boxes?

I have seen the following links.

http://affix.sourceforge.net

http://tuxmobil.org/bluetooth_cell_apps.html

Could you please forward me any other links?

3) Could you please post me your details? I did not know about it.
I did not know even about the ADSL etc.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you.=20

Thanks and Regards,
Srinivas G

Hi, what device do you have.

I use bluez to connect my palm to my PC so that I can use my ADSL connection to wirelessly connect to the net from anywhere in the house.

I can post details if you are interested.

Phil
