Hello All,
I have been trying to tackle Theo Zourzouvillys' project on setting up
bluetooth support for Asterisk
(http://crazygreek.co.uk/content/chan_bluetooth), but have run into problems
and since his mailing list link does not work, I turn to you at bluez-users.
My goal is to set up a voice->gsm gateway whereby I can send a call over SIP
which routes that call out over a mobile connected via Bluetooth. Being able
to send up to four simultaneous calls to be routed via four different
mobiles would be even better :-). It seems that Theo's is the perfect
project...
I am sure there is someone out there who has done this and can help/hint
me...
I have successfully:
1. integrated chan_bluetooth into asterisk
2. installed bluez protocol stack:
a.. bluez-libs-2.22.tar.gz
b.. bluez-utils-2.22.tar.gz
c.. bluez-pin-0.26.tar.gz
d.. bluez-firmware-1.1.tar.gz
e.. bluez-hcidump-1.27.tar.gz
f.. bluez-hciemu-1.2.tar.gz
from http://www.bluez.org
At this point, on the bluetooth side, my bluetooth dongle can scan and
recognise bluetooth enabled phones. However...
At starting up Asterisk, I get the following error messages:

Below are my various config files. Theo did not mention anything about
rfcomm so I am not sure if I am to use this, so I have been playing about a
little and learning at the same time, so please be patient with me and any
advice/info is much appreciated...

Also, there is a bug reported at Theo's site regarding SCO links which is
similar to what I am doing here...any ideas on this?
FYI:
- I have loaded rfcomm, l2cap, hci_usb, bluez modules successfully to the
system.
- hciconfig shows the interface to be UP
- hcitool scan recognises bluetooth phone

Hi Marcel (and list),
Unfortunately my hcidump is still not showing anything - but I have got my
mobile to connect to the computer (via rfcomm connect), pin is entered and
recognised on both sides, and I get:
Connected /dev/rfcomm0 to XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX on channel 3
Press CTRL-C for hang-up
Also, having tried to connect from Asterisk, the phone is connected
successfully also. The output at the asterisk console is:

Though I'm not too sure about the warning at the top...
When I execute 'bluetooth show peers', the output is positive:

But when trying to dial from asterisk (via a soft sip phone), I get a
segmentation fault:

Segmentation fault
Note the Dial trying to be executed; I am wery about this since I didnt
fully understand Theo's documentation
(http://crazygreek.co.uk/content/chan_bluetooth), in whcih he states:
'Send a call out by using Dial(BLT/DevName/0123456). Call a HS with
Dial(BLT/DevName)'
Because I am dialing an AG, I am to use the Dial(BLT/DevName/0123456)
command, but what are the digits after /DevName/? Is this the phone number
of the mobile phone? Perhaps this is why I cannot dial from asterisk?
Any help/hint/reply/best wishes is helpful - its kind of lonely when no-one
replies (thanks to Marcel for all the help, perhaps a *little* more if
you're up for it? plz?)

I am pretty sure that the PIN helper has a problem. So get hcidump
running and look at your log files.

that you now need to do something. It works like tcpdump. No traffic, no
output at all.

you can't. Run "hcidump -X -V" and make sure that the PIN helper works.

you can't. Run "hcidump -X -V" and make sure that the PIN helper works.

Hcid was not running, after starting it I ran rfcomm connect again but this
time it gave a Can't connect RFCOMM socket: connection refused' error, which
means pin is wrong?
How can I disable the pin feature?

make sure that "hcid" is running as root. Otherwise use "hcidump X -V"
to debug it.

make sure that "hcid" is running as root. Otherwise use "hcidump X -V"
to debug it.

That's just what I was reading up on; After some trial and error, I found
out that we need to load sco, rfcomm, and start the sdp server (sdpd) before
asterisk will startup without error.
I have one little problem with 'passcode'; I am prompted for a passcode on
the mobile phone (6310i) - whether the right code is entered or not, it
attempts to connect but then fails.
I have tried 'rfcomm connect <dev> <bdaddr> [<channel>]' command also, but
again the passcode fails when prompted.
The exact command is:
rfcomm connect 0 00:0E:6D:34:BD:B1 3
The exact error is:
Can't connect RFCOMM socket: Resource temporarily unavailable
PLEASE SOMEONE, any ideas??
Couple of things:
1. I have created a rfcomm0 device
2. I have gone into hcid.conf and edditted the pin_helper entry by pointing
it to a file I created with the code:
#!/bin/sh
echo "PIN:999"
3. I have also editted the /etc/bkuetooth/pin file and replaced 'Bluez'
(which was the only thing in the file) with 999 - This I am not at all sure
about.
I am very very very very close. Please someone help me fix this thing before
I die, in which case I will rest on your conscience forever!!!!! ;)

don't worry that much, but people tend to ignore hard to read messages
and multiple colors make emails hard to hard to read. The invention of
HTML emails was totally stupid and unneeded ;)

what about not using HTML emails or not using Outlook at all. There is
no need to have black and blue text in an email. ASCII emails are still
fine an appropriate for a open source mailing list ;)
