Subject: NFS server share saving question


Suppose i have an NFS server and five NFS client sharing a file "text"

out of those five client two of them had opened the file and start editing the file simultaneously then whose changes will be save out of these two client.

Whoever the server thinks saved it last wins.

And that can depend on various nfs settings, buffer cache timing,
and such, so that dual saves cannot be counted on to act a certain
way.

It also depends upon upon what you mean by "editing"

Normally file system think of that as meaning, seek to some offset and
call write(2).
But editors often make backup copies, etc. and do other stuff, so the
results can be even less predictable.
